Oxford Shoes
The lovely classic Oxfords!
Oxford shoes are ideal for every lady with a dynamic lifestyle, for the moments when she needs comfort and at the same time wants to keep her feminine elegance. So compatible with all kind of clothes (skirts, dresses, pants) they win our hearts! We love to wear them during spring, summer, and autumn. These are one of the most practical and always trendy shoes! They are comfortable and diverse – mono- and multicolored, closed and perforated, flat, pumped or platformer.
Why we call them Oxfords?
Oxfords, Balmorals, Bals, Richelieu - the names given to these lace-up shoes nowadays are as versatile as the stories behind their origin. The style is thought to derive from the Oxonian shoe – a comfortable half-boot popular among the students at Oxford University in the 1800s. Many sources trace their origin back to Scotland and Ireland, where they were called Balmorals after the Balmoral castle. It is also believed that Duke Richelieu influenced the development of the shoe style, which explains why they are known as Richelieu in France.
Originally, Oxfords were classic, formal shoes, made of leather, but they evolved into a diversity of styles suitable for formal, uniform, or casual wear. Normally they were black or brown, but now we see them in the whole color spectrum.

How to recognize them?
There are three main characteristics that define this shoe style:
1. Oxfords have a “close-lacing” construction. Actually here is the key difference with the less-formal Derby shoes that always feature open lacing.
2. All Oxfords are low-heeled. The height is max. 4-5 cm.
3. The model exposes the ankle. This is an opportunity for pairing with interesting socks or tights.
3 ways to wear them
Get the casual look! Pair your comfy shoes with your favorite jeans and shirt.
For a girly-boho look – Combine Oxfords in pastel colors with midi skirt and cardigan.
Need romantic look? Wear multicolored Oxfords with a floral dress, the colors will match perfectly. You can pair Oxfords with a lace dress too.
